Some features are really fun to implement, and fire is one of them. This was Nick’s idea – to have incendiary mortars, and it was a good one. I’ve extended it to apply to the laser as well. The laser just wasn’t very interesting to use, but now it lights fires near where it hits.
The fire creeps along the timber structure, slowly applying damage and spreading at intersections. It will travel faster upwards, so it’s advantageous to hit the structure near the bottom. If left un-checked it can cause considerable damage, but it may be mostly a psychological effect as well as a destraction from other tasks. We’ll have to tune it during some multiplayer games.
